The rocks are slippery and water shoes are a great idea. Really not that big of a deal. I could not believe the number of people who made it all the way to the pool and never went in…what a waste! One of the great things about getting to the pool is that even though hundreds of people come there every day, hardly anything has been done to make it easier to get to.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} You must have a 4x4! We were told that they could only accommodate us until 1pm. Later in the day, we found an area with no seats and asked someone to bring seats over for us. We caught several sunsets and there is live music a couple nights a week. Guests were more than happy to comply with his request, but we couldn't believe that the hotel allowed cigarette and cigar smoking all over the pool area. Unfortunately, they did not have the color I wanted and offered to ship the bag to the hotel when it arrived and the hotel could ship it directly to us. We shared a bowl of loaded curly fries that were out of this world. You can get from the Riu passed the Holiday Inn on the walk way. They advertised special finger foods while you drank and my husband tried to get us some of the potatoe chips. I was shocked to see that even if you didn't want a beach hut, you still needed to wait on a line that formed at am in order to get a towel-person to bring towels to you chairs. The weather was rainy, cloudy, and windy when we arrived, so we quickly unpacked and strolled around the beach walk to find someplace to eat. Since we didn't wake up at the crack of dawn, we couldn't get a beach hut, but the towel-people were more than happy to pull up chairs right to the ocean level and when the sun got too strong, we took a walk and sought shade. I stood on the line from am, and wound up with the worst seats at the pool. He took our bags to the health club where we could change into beach wear, hang a change of clothes in a locker. That night, the Hyatt had a special promotional happy hour and we decided to go for the dancing and so my husband could have a drink before our dinner reservations. As we were packing up and showering after our last few hours at the pool, a male hotel manager walked into our room and saw me in my towel. There are two hot tubs tucked away near the stairs for the slide and they are small and quiet. The location of the hotel was very convenient to food, shopping and of course, the beach. Would definitely recommend the hotel. We also requested a late check-out the following day since our flight didn't leave Aruba until pm. Very contradictory from what we were told a day earlier. We thought the "adult only" section was a great feature at the Hyatt in Kauai, where we stayed for our honeymoon, but entirely lacking in the Hyatt Aruba. When he went to speak to the Hyatt manager, he asked for an honest answer as to whether or not the hotel was at full capacity or if the pool was always this crowded and her answer was, "As you can see, our hotel does great business, better than the other hotels, and no we are not even at full-capacity. The business manager refused to try to get us a shipping label so that we could see the actual cost of shipping and said that although the do sometimes use UPS that they primarily deal with FedEx and refused to even see how much UPS would cost. I explained that my husband and I were coming down for our "babymoon," our last trip before we had our first child and he was very nice. The only other way that I would try to get to the natural bridge and natural pool is by 4-wheeler. Around the hotel: - Grounds are as lovely as everyone says. It was nice during the day to have natural light while showering up for dinner, but the one time my husband forgot and turned the light on at night it was quite a shock. It was surprising that the hotel receptionist didn't mention this at check-in. We did have trouble receiving calls from the US, but had no problems calling out. The staff said that you could only buy the full special, which was pulled pork sandwiches and chips. Since the beach is so narrow it was nice not have all the traffic walking in front of you in the surf. This was our third Hyatt stay within five months. We spoke with the conceirge and she said that the hotel could probably do it free of charge. He assured me that when we got down to Aruba, the executive manager would be aware of our conversation and we would be treated as special guests. It is beautifully landscaped. On the first full day of our trip, I woke up early to get seats at the pool. The bar manager refused to give him the chips and my husband told him he thought it was a bad business move and very unprofessional mind you, my husband is a sales manager, so he only opens his mouth about these kinds of things when he is really upset because he knows what it is like to be on the sales side of the situation. We had wonderful views from our room. We were also shocked that the nicest hotel on the island had only two pools, one small and one larger with a bar and neither was designated for children. When we arrived, we were very surprised to see that the executive manager had done nothing to welcome us to the hotel. After our pool day at the Radisson, we chose to spend the rest of the trip at the beach. On the third day of our trip we strolled past the other resorts and noticed that their pools were much larger, more spread out, and less crowded. On our last day in Aruba, we ventured into the downtown area and I found a diaper bag I liked at one of the designer boutiques. They happily complied. It was easy and convenient. We lucked out on our timing there was a group of 6 jeeps just leaving when we got there and my friend and I were the only tow in the pool for a good half an hour. I couldn't believe that 1 you couldn't get your own seats at the pool - you were forced to wait on a line and forced into a situation where you had to tip a towel-person for carrying your towels two feet, and 2 that in order to get good pool seats or a hut at the beach you would have to wake up on your vacation before in the morning. It was so fun! They delivered it to the hotel lobby, helped us take off the top and picked it up the next morning. The swans, coy, and lizards were fun to see. On a side note, I always thought Aruba weather was supposed to be perfect, but we had very little sun, and a lot more wind and clouds. The caged parrots were entertaining but I heard other guests complaining that they were loud in the morning. Being that we do not have children yet, we were hoping that we could get some quiet relaxation time at the pool without balls whizzing past our heads or children jumping in where we were walking in the pool. On our last day, I asked again if we could verify our late check-out and we were told we could stay in our room as late as we want. We were able to rent an international cell phone on site for a reasonable fee and were able to check emails in the business center throughout our stay. They were huge. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}The hotel stay were very friendly and the business center was great. Easy to return at the airport, although you have to go the the "Arrivals" building Check-In: - We arrived early to the hotel and the bell man Oscar was wonderful. Sopranos- fun piano bar that got packed at night. As we got up to leave, the waitress brought over a bill for the chips. My husband said that at this point he didn't want the chips anymore, it was just principal that they were making a bad business move in this economy, not trying to accomodate a paying guest. I think there were probably only 3 rooms between us and the suites on the end of the tower. Many times, my husband had to ask the numerous cigarette and cigar smokers to move their chairs back as I am pregnant. Hard Rock- stopped for a drink one afternoon. This allowed us to stay in touch with those back in NC. He remembered us through out our stay and is a great front man for the Hyatt. Mortified, he ran out and called ten minutes later to apologize. We suggest that they designate a special smoking area since there are so many young families that vacation at the resort and no one should have to be exposed to those fumes and smells while trying to relax and recharge on vacation. Needless to say, the same manager met my husband at check-out to ask how the stay was and if he could do anything to get us to come back to the Hyatt Aruba and my husband asked to things, 1 was the hotel at full capacity when we arrived - "YES", and 2 if you really want to make it up to my wife for walking in on her and for all the other crap that has gone on during our stay, please do me a favor and waive the shipping fee for her diaper bag. My husband was able to get us a deal at the Radisson so that we could switch hotels because we were so unhappy with our first two days at the Hyatt pool. We did not make a reservation before hand, but after getting our luggage and clearing customs we went right up to the desk and got a phone loaded with 84 min. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency March Here are some highlights of the trip: Phone: - We used Fastphones during our stay. The swim in the natural pool was almost my favorite part of the whole trip. We would recommend this hotel for families, but definitely not for honeymooners as it was still an expensive vacation and it seems that every hotel and restaurant truly caters to families and large groups as opposed to the romantic. He looked at my husband and replied "NO. It was quite an adventure getting to the pool and probably took us 45 min to an hour of following arrows painted on rocks. The higher the number the closer you are to the ocean. My husband and I just got back from the Hyatt Regency Aruba and we were less than pleased with the entire experience. After waiting online so early in the morning, to have someone pull up chairs so close later in the day, was very uncomfortable. When my husband was finishing up his last drink, a waitress brought over the chips and we thought, wow, finally they are doing the right thing. We were shocked and annoyed, paid for the drinks and chips, and cancelled our reservations at the Hyatt. My husband felt that he couldn't get one minute of relaxation at the Hyatt pool between the close lounge chairs, tons of kids mind you it was NOT a school holiday and the smokers. The pool lounge chairs at the Hyatt were also set so close to each other that you couldn't help but be claustrophobic. The Mahi Tempura was great and we enjoyed the sangria. We had room In the tower even numbers face the Playa Linda and odd numbers face the pool. Before we arrived, I spoke with a customer service rep and explained that my last two Hyatt stays in Philly and NY were unacceptable. Pineapple, coconut juice and yogurt smoothie goes WELL with the rum! They were able to accommodate us with 2 out of 3. We weren't sure if it was truly accidental or if it was a tactic to get us out of the room. He explained that he didn't want the chips for free, he wanted to pay for them, and he didn't want the sandwiches since we had dinner reservations within the hour at one of the Hyatt restaurants. Then held our bags until our room was ready.
